FEMA opens disaster service centers in six Mississippi counties after May storms
The Federal Emergency Management Agency said Disaster Service Centers are open to assist survivors of the May 6-7 severe storms and tornadoes in Mississippi.
FEMA said the centers can help residents complete FEMA applications, provide information on state and local resources and allow survivors to speak with U.S. Small Business Administration representatives about disaster loans.
FEMA said centers are open in Franklin, Lamar, Lawrence and Wilkinson counties and at two locations in Lincoln County. The centers are open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are closed Sunday.
FEMA said residents do not have to visit a center to apply for assistance. Applications can be submitted online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA App or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
FEMA urged those affected by the storms not to wait to seek help and asked that the information be shared with friends, family and neighbors who may need assistance.
