The Mississippi Department of Public Safety said it held a ribbon cutting recently for a new medical examiner’s office in Oxford.
The agency said the opening follows the elimination of an autopsy backlog.
The department said the facility represents another step in strengthening the state’s medical examiner system and will expand services for communities across North Mississippi.
The announcement appeared in a post on the department’s official social media account, the agency said.
