NWS Memphis warns of severe storms, heavy rain through evening

The National Weather Service office in Memphis said a marginal to slight risk for severe weather exists through this evening, with a potential heavy rainfall threat extending into the overnight hours.

The office said the main threat is damaging winds. It added that a brief spin-up tornado cannot be ruled out.

The agency said the threat of heavy rain could continue into the overnight period.

The National Weather Service noted temperatures will be cooler behind the cold front.
