The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) recognized Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson for his support of the Inmate Litter Removal Program. Johnson was presented with a Certificate of Thanks for his dedication to keeping Mississippi’s roadsides clean.
MDOT officials credited the sheriff’s support and community partnerships for helping improve the state’s appearance. The program aims to enhance community pride and showcase Mississippi’s natural beauty.
Representatives from local governments and organizations attended the ceremony, including Lee County Supervisors Tommie Lee Ivy, Barry Parker, Mike Smith, and George Rutledge. Also present were Leslie Pearman, MDOT Litter Coordinator, and officials from Keep Baldwyn Beautiful, Keep Tupelo Beautiful, and Keep Saltillo Beautiful.
MDOT emphasized the importance of collaborations like these in maintaining clean and attractive public spaces across Mississippi, according to a news release. The program continues to rely on local support to succeed, officials said.
