Most of state under heat advisory; heat index may reach 110
A heat advisory covers most of the state through the rest of the week, with high temperatures expected in the mid- to upper-90s and heat indices as high as 110, the advisory said.
The advisory urged residents to limit prolonged outdoor activity, especially during the hottest parts of the day, and to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
It also advised people to know the signs of heat-related illness and to take action if they or someone else begins feeling sick, the advisory said.
The advisory warned never to leave children, older adults or pets in a vehicle. It recommended taking frequent breaks in a cool or shaded place when outdoors and checking on family, friends and neighbors.
