The ongoing heat wave will continue through the middle of the week, with afternoon heat index values expected between 105 and 115 degrees Fahrenheit, forecasters said.
The highest heat is forecast for the afternoons through Wednesday, when heat index readings are likely to peak, forecasters said.
Cooler weather is expected by next weekend, and forecasters say heat indices should fall below 100 degrees Fahrenheit in most areas.
