NWS Memphis warns heat index may reach 109 degrees; advisory through Sunday

The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, said a heat advisory remains in effect through Sunday as heat indices could reach 109 degrees Fahrenheit.

“We cannot stress enough how important heat safety is, especially during this prolonged period of 100-plus-degree temperatures,” the office said in a social media post.

The post urged residents to stay hydrated and to “Look Before You Lock,” the office said, listing those phrases as part of its heat-safety message.

The office included the hashtags #StayHydrated, #LookBeforeYouLock and #HeatSafety in the post and reiterated that the advisory remains in effect through Sunday.
