NWS in Memphis warns heat indices could reach 105 to 113 degrees; brief relief Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Memphis warned that dangerous heat will continue, with heat indices reaching 105 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit this afternoon, the agency said.

A weak front is moving through the region, but it will not end the extreme heat, the agency said. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible.

The agency said Tuesday will bring a brief, one-day respite from the extreme heat, but warned the dangerous conditions will return Wednesday.

The National Weather Service advised residents to drink plenty of water, limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets.
