NWS Memphis issues Extreme Heat Warning, Heat Advisory starting at 11 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Memphis issued an Extreme Heat Warning and a Heat Advisory starting at 11 a.m., the office said.

The office said the alerts mark the first day of a heat wave and that forecasters are increasingly confident about the intensity of the heat.

Forecasters said there is a low severe-weather threat this afternoon for damaging winds associated with a decaying MCV.

The office urged residents to stay cool and hydrated.
