NWS Memphis issues Heat Advisory for areas near, west of Mississippi River Monday

The U.S. National Weather Service office in Memphis said Monday that a Heat Advisory will be in effect for areas near and west of the Mississippi River, with afternoon heat index values expected to reach 105 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

The advisory covers communities in the region, the office said, and is meant to warn residents of dangerous heat conditions.

The National Weather Service urged people to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks from being outdoors in the sun, the office said.
