NWS Memphis tweaks Heat Advisory as prolonged heat wave begins

The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, said it made a minor tweak to a Heat Advisory that takes effect at 11 a.m. today.

The agency said in a social media post that today is the first day of a prolonged heat wave and that the longevity of the event is what makes it dangerous.

The office urged residents to take precautions, writing, “Stay cool, Mid-South!” in the post.
