The National Weather Service in Memphis warned that a dangerous heat wave will continue through July 4 and that heat headlines are in effect through Saturday, the agency said.
The agency urged residents to watch for vulnerable populations such as children, older adults and pets, saying they are at greater risk in extreme heat.
The NWS advised people to remain in air-conditioned places and to drink plenty of fluids to avoid heat-related illness.
The warning was posted by the agency on its social media account, the National Weather Service in Memphis said.
