NWS warns of severe storms, flash flooding for north and central Mississippi

The National Weather Service issued a slight risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather and an elevated risk (Level 2) for flash flooding for north and central Mississippi on Monday, June 22, 2026, the agency said.

The agency said potential impacts include damaging winds up to 60 mph, hail up to quarter-size, the possibility of tornadoes and localized flash flooding that could flood roads and low-lying areas.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency urged residents to stay weather aware, keep phones charged, enable emergency alerts and never drive through flooded roadways, according to a MEMA post.
