NWS warns of flash flooding in central, southern Mississippi

The National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi, said in a post that flash flooding is expected in parts of the state today, with central and southern areas most at risk.

The agency urged residents to stay alert and use extra caution while traveling.

“If you encounter a flooded roadway, \”Turn Around, Don’t Drown,\”” the post said, adding that it only takes a small amount of moving water to sweep away a vehicle.

“Your destination can wait. Your safety cannot,” the post said.
