Parts of Mississippi under enhanced severe-weather risk
A severe weather alert said parts of Mississippi were under an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe storms on April 28, 2026, the alert said.
The alert warned of damaging winds up to 70 mph, golf-ball-size hail and possible tornadoes, and said a strong tornado could not be ruled out.
The alert urged residents to stay weather-aware throughout the day, have multiple ways to receive warnings and know their safe place in case warnings are issued.
The alert reminded residents to be prepared to take shelter if warnings are issued and to monitor updates during the day, the alert said.
