Storm Prediction Center issues enhanced severe-weather risk for Mississippi
The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center issued an enhanced risk — the third of five levels — for severe storms in Mississippi from the afternoon of May 6 into the early morning of May 7, 2026, the center said.
The SPC warned of damaging winds up to 70 mph, golf-ball-size hail and tornadoes, saying strong tornadoes were possible.
The center urged residents to stay weather-aware, have multiple ways to receive warnings and know their safe place in case watches or warnings are issued.
