Social post warns Mississippians of scam texts threatening license suspension

A social media post warned Mississippians that texts saying the Driver Service Bureau will suspend licenses, cancel vehicle registrations or demand immediate payment are scams.

The post, which included the hashtags #Mississippi and #ScamAlert, said the Driver Service Bureau (DSB) does not send texts threatening suspension or asking recipients to click links to pay fees.

It urged recipients not to click links, not to reply and to delete the messages. The post said such messages are “most likely always a scam.”

Local officials or the DSB were not directly cited beyond the content of the social media post.
