‘The Big Fix’ I-20/I-55 corridor project set to begin this fall in Hinds, Rankin counties

Construction on the I-20/I-55 Freight Corridors Improvement Project, nicknamed “The Big Fix,” is scheduled to begin this fall in Hinds and Rankin counties, project officials said.

The project will rehabilitate and modernize 36 existing bridges, resurface or repair interstate and highway corridors, and deploy intelligent transportation systems to improve traffic management and real-time communication, project officials said.

Project officials said the work is intended to modernize critical infrastructure and improve safety and mobility along some of Mississippi’s most heavily traveled routes.

Officials directed residents to the project’s online materials for more information, project officials said.
