DOJ says Trump-era $1.8 billion ‘anti-weaponization’ fund ‘will not’ continue

The Justice Department told a federal court Friday that the Trump administration’s nearly $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” compensation fund “will not” continue, and asked the court to reject a legal challenge, according to a court filing.

Two DOJ attorneys wrote the filing in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, saying the fund is effectively dead, according to the document.

The challenge was brought by a former federal prosecutor and several others, the filing said. The department asked the court to dismiss that challenge, according to the attorneys.

The filing was submitted Friday in the Eastern District of Virginia, according to the document filed by the Justice Department.
