Fan rushes court in NBA Finals Game 1 seeking selfie with Wembanyama

The New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 105-95 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday, and a fan briefly ran onto the court while attempting a selfie with Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama, Fox News reported.

The fan entered from the sideline opposite the team benches and ran into San Antonio’s offensive end, according to Fox News. Two security guards quickly pulled the person from the court before any contact with Wembanyama or New York players appeared to occur.

Play was stopped for about a minute and resumed with a jump ball, Fox News said. The fan was then removed from the court area through a baseline tunnel, the outlet reported.

Earlier in the game, Knicks guard Jalen Brunson limped to the locker room after Spurs forward Harrison Barnes was pushed into his right knee, then returned in the second quarter with the knee heavily wrapped, Fox News reported. Brunson later appeared to tweak his left ankle but remained in the game and finished with 30 points, according to Fox News.

The victory marked New York’s 12th consecutive playoff win, Fox News reported. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
