Man wanted for killing wife, fleeing with children, arrested in Mexico after nearly two years
Authorities recovered two missing California children in Mexico nearly two years after their father allegedly fled with them following the death of their mother, officials said. The FBI announced Tuesday that Camron Lee, 40, was arrested in Primo Tapia, Baja California, in connection with the 2024 death of Angelica Bravo.
Lee’s two children, Athena Lee, 5, and Mateo Lee, 4, were also recovered in Mexico, authorities said. The arrest followed a nearly six-month effort to locate Lee and the children, according to law enforcement.
The Sacramento Police Department responded to a residence in July 2024, where officers found Bravo dead inside the home. Lee was charged with murder and four counts of possession of an assault weapon. A federal arrest warrant was issued in August 2024 for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
In December 2025, the FBI announced rewards for information leading to Lee’s arrest and conviction, as well as the recovery of the children. The campaign was promoted through media outlets and social media platforms across North America. The FBI credited a tip from the public for leading to Lee’s arrest, with FBI Sacramento Special Agent in Charge Sid Patel calling it a reminder of the effectiveness of the reward program.
Sacramento Police Chief Zachary Bales said the arrest was a step toward justice for Bravo. Bales emphasized that violence will not be tolerated in the community and expressed hope that the development would bring some relief to Bravo’s family. Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho confirmed Lee will face murder charges.
The children have been reunited with their maternal grandmother. Authorities in Mexico, along with multiple U.S. and international agencies, assisted in locating and apprehending Lee, according to officials.
