A cold front will push rain and a few thunderstorms through the region today, with forecasters saying North Mississippi could see as much as 1 inch of rain that is unlikely to ease drought conditions.

Forecasters say a cold front will bring increased chances of showers and sporadic thunderstorms overnight and into tomorrow, with rounds of rain moving northwest to southeast.

Both directions of the Old Byram Road bridge over I-55 in Hinds County will be closed starting April 27 for bridge repairs, lasting until June 8.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation said it held its annual Equipment Operators Roadeo for District 2 at the district headquarters in Batesville on April 16, giving operators a chance to demonstrate vehicle-handling and heavy-equipment skills.
