The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, warned that dangerous heat will continue for the foreseeable future and that Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories are in effect, the agency said.
The agency said people should not underestimate the heat and take the warnings seriously.
It urged residents to stay in air conditioning as much as possible. The NWS advised those who must be outdoors to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade or in air conditioning.
The guidance was issued by the National Weather Service in Memphis to alert the public to the ongoing heat risk, the agency said.
