Mississippi agency spotlights four K-9 officers for National Dog Month
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety said in a social media post that August is National Dog Month and highlighted four K-9 officers: Tank, Crow, Rambo and BoBo.
The department said the dogs serve with the Capitol Police and perform dual-purpose duties, including tracking and detecting narcotics, explosives and weapons.
The department said the K-9s may accept extra treats and belly rubs this month but remain ready to work.
The department encouraged the public to show appreciation for the K-9 officers and the handlers who work beside them every day, the post said.
