Mississippi DOT honors assistant engineer for bridge safety efforts
Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is highlighting its employees through its Worker Wednesday program. This week, the focus is on Paul Purvis, the district’s assistant construction engineer in District 6.
Based at the Hattiesburg headquarters, Purvis oversees construction projects across 14 counties in southeast Mississippi, from the Pine Belt to the Gulf Coast. His extensive knowledge of regional infrastructure stems from previous work as a bridge inspector, providing him with hands-on experience with nearly every bridge in the district.
Purvis is a strong advocate for bridge safety. Having witnessed the aftermath of numerous bridge strikes and fires, he emphasizes the importance of protecting these structures that millions of drivers rely on annually. He encourages the public to be mindful and respectful of bridges.
MDOT commends Purvis for his expertise and dedication to safety, recognizing his contributions to strengthening Mississippi’s transportation network through his work on various projects.
