Tupelo man charged after alleged check fraud at two bank branches
Samuel T. Dickson, 44, of Tupelo, was charged May 21 with two counts of false pretense after an investigation into two alleged check fraud incidents, the Tupelo Police Department said.
Police said officers responded May 19 to BNA Bank at 2919 Tom Watson Drive after employees reported a suspect had cashed a check that was later determined to be fraudulent.
Later that day, officers went to BNA Bank at 3041 McCullough Blvd. for a report of a person attempting to cash a fraudulent check, police said. Employees told officers the suspect fled and provided a description matching the earlier incident.
Patrol officers later located a person matching the description and arrested the individual on unrelated misdemeanor charges, the police statement said. After further investigation, the department identified the suspect as Dickson and filed two false pretense charges on May 21.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir ordered Dickson held on a $10,000 bond, court records show. The Tupelo Police Department said the charges will be presented to the Lee County grand jury.
