Tupelo man sentenced to 60 years after pleading guilty to three manslaughter charges

Tupelo, Miss. — Taquon Garth pleaded guilty to three manslaughter charges and was sentenced to 60 years on May 1, 2026, the office of First Circuit District Attorney Jason D. Herring said in a press release.

Circuit Court Judge Kelly Mims imposed the maximum 20-year term for each count and ordered the sentences to run consecutively, to be served in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, the release said.

The charges stem from a July 24, 2021, shooting that resulted in the deaths of Jessica Pannell, Robben Wilson and Norahs Coleman, the release said. Assistant District Attorney Josh Wise prosecuted the case on behalf of the state, the release said.

The district attorney’s office thanked the Tupelo Police Department and Detective Tyler Cook for their work and expressed appreciation for the victims’ families, saying their “strength and patience have been extraordinary” and that the office’s “continued prayers and thoughts are with the families,” the release said.
