Miss. governor seeks federal disaster declaration after tornadoes
Gov. Tate Reeves asked President Donald Trump for a Major Disaster Declaration for five counties impacted by severe storms on May 6-7, 2026, WJTV reported.
The request cited damage from severe storms, strong tornadoes, straight-line winds, hail and flash flooding, according to WJTV.
The state was struck by seven tornadoes and 26 people were injured during the storms, WJTV reported.
Reeves, a Republican, made the request seeking federal assistance for affected communities, WJTV reported.
