Southern Miss and Mississippi State to host NCAA baseball regionals
Southern Miss and Mississippi State will host NCAA baseball regionals, the NCAA announced Monday. Both schools will facilitate postseason matchups at their home ballparks, with Southern Miss hosting for the third time in four years and Mississippi State returning to Dudy Noble Field for the first time since 2021.
Southern Miss, ranked No. 8, posted a 44-15 record after winning its third Sun Belt championship in four seasons. The Golden Eagles have recorded 40 or more wins for 10 consecutive seasons. The field for the Hattiesburg regional has not yet been announced, but Pete Taylor Park is expected to be packed once the tournament begins. The team is aiming to advance to a super regional after falling short last year.
Mississippi State, ranked No. 17 with a 40-17 record, will host at Dudy Noble Field for the first time since 2021, the year the Bulldogs won the College World Series. The program, which has a storied history, will welcome fans eager to see the team in Starkville during late May. The stadium holds NCAA attendance records and is expected to be filled with maroon and white supporters.
Ole Miss, ranked No. 18 with a 36-21 record, did not host but is guaranteed an at-large bid to the 64-team tournament. The Rebels were close to hosting, needing just one more regular-season conference win for Swayze Field to be a regional host site.
The NCAA Tournament schedule will be released Monday at 11 a.m. CT during a live selection show on ESPN2.
