Family of Charlie Kirk Faces Accused Shooter in Utah Courtroom

Provo, Utah — The family of Charlie Kirk confronted his accused shooter Monday during the first day of a week-long preliminary hearing in Utah. Tyler Robinson, 23, was present before media access was granted at around 8:55 a.m. He was cuffed and dressed in a gray suit, pink shirt, and black tie.

During the hearing, videos depicting Kirk’s shooting death were played for the court. Utah State Bureau of Investigation Agent David Hull testified that the videos included images of the fatal gunshot to Kirk’s neck, with audio of the shot audible to attendees. Judge Tony Graf Jr. flinched and leaned away from the screen at the sound, but Robinson sat still.

Kirk’s family, including his parents, widow, and other relatives, had already exited the courtroom before the videos were shown. They were warned prior to the graphic evidence being introduced. Some high-profile supporters, such as Donald Trump Jr. and conservative commentators Jack Posobiec and Brandon Tatum, joined the family at the proceedings.

Hull also discussed the autopsy report, which listed Kirk’s death as a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the neck. Robinson’s parents sat in the courtroom’s fourth row, holding each other’s hands during the testimony.
