Von Miller signs with Dallas Cowboys in Texas homecoming

Von Miller announced he is signing with the Dallas Cowboys for his 15th NFL season, though terms of the deal were not disclosed, Miller wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Cowboys great DeMarcus Ware also posted a FaceTime screenshot of the two smiling together with a smiling emoji and the hashtag “#CowboysNation,” Fox News reported.

Miller finished last season with nine sacks and 26 combined tackles in 17 games for the Washington Commanders, Fox News reported. The eight-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion also was the MVP of Super Bowl 50 and, according to Fox News, is tied for ninth all-time in career sacks with 138.5.

The move reunites Miller with his home region. The DeSoto, Texas, native starred at DeSoto High School and at Texas A&M before being taken second overall by the Denver Broncos in the 2011 NFL draft, Fox News reported.

The Cowboys have pursued pass rush help since trading Micah Parsons last year. Fox News reported Dallas had 31 sacks last season and allowed the third-most yards (377.0) and the most points (30.1) per game. The team added players including Rashan Gary, Otito Ogbonnia and Dee Winters, and used two first-round picks on Ohio State safety Caleb Downs and UCF linebacker Malachi Lawrence, according to Fox News.
