Hayden Panettiere, actress from ‘Nashville,’ dies at 36
Hayden Panettiere, an actress known for her role on the television series ‘Nashville,’ has died at age 36, her representative confirmed to Fox News Digital. The circumstances surrounding her death were not immediately available.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her – and to the millions who watched her onscreen,” her representative said in a statement provided to ABC News.
Born in New York, Panettiere began acting at a young age, appearing on the soap opera ‘One Life to Live’ when she was 4 years old. She gained fame with a starring role alongside Denzel Washington in the 2000 film ‘Remember the Titans.’
The actress struggled with substance abuse issues, revealing in a 2022 interview that she was introduced to opioids and alcohol at age 15. She said that pills given to make her ‘peppy’ during interviews contributed to her addiction, which worsened as her career advanced.
In her memoir, ‘This Is Me: A Reckoning,’ Panettiere discussed her decision to give full custody of her daughter, Kaya, to her ex-fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko. She explained that her struggles with addiction prompted her to prioritize her child’s stability and safety, choosing to have her daughter live with her father since 2018.
