JACKSON, Miss. — Jeremy McGee was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking fentanyl, a drug responsible for numerous overdoses in the area, according to court records.
Judge Kelly L. Mims of the Circuit Court ordered McGee to serve the full 12-year sentence without the possibility of parole or early release. The judge suspended an additional 28 years and mandated five years of post-release supervision following incarceration, court documents show.
The case was investigated by the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit. Prosecutors praised the agency for its efforts to remove dangerous narcotics from local streets. Assistant District Attorney Megan French prosecuted the case on behalf of the state.
Jason D. Herring, district attorney for the First Circuit Court District, announced the sentence and emphasized the importance of drug enforcement efforts in the region.
