Tupelo, Miss. — Jeremy McGee pleaded guilty Aug. 3 to trafficking fentanyl and was sentenced to 12 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, a press release from District Attorney Jason D. Herring said.
Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims suspended an additional 28 years on the charge and ordered McGee to serve five years of post-release supervision after his term of incarceration, the release said.
Because McGee was convicted of trafficking, he must serve the complete 12-year sentence day-for-day without the possibility of parole or early release, the release said.
The case was investigated by the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Megan French on behalf of the state, the release said. Herring’s office commended NMNU agents for their work, according to the statement.
