Mississippi DOT warns of extreme heat, high surf; lists local NWS offices
The Mississippi Department of Transportation warned on social media that parts of the state could face potentially dangerous weather this week, including extreme heat and high surf.
The agency listed the U.S. National Weather Service offices that cover the state: Memphis, Tennessee; Jackson, Mississippi; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Mobile, Alabama, MDOT said.
MDOT urged residents to follow their local National Weather Service office for important warnings and updates.
The department also reminded motorists to check the MDOT Traffic app for road conditions before driving. MDOT said the app is free on Apple and Google Play.
