The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, said prolonged hot and humid conditions are expected this week, with heat indices rising above 105 degrees each day.
Forecasters said there were no major changes to the forecast today and that they retained an Extreme Heat Watch because of uncertainty about potential showers Wednesday and Thursday.
The agency said additional heat headlines will likely be needed in subsequent forecast updates.
