NWS Warns Mississippi of More Flooding From Arthur Remnants
The National Weather Service warned Friday that the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur will bring additional heavy rain to Mississippi on June 19, 2026.
As much as 3 inches of additional rainfall is possible, with locally higher amounts, the agency said. Many areas of the state have already experienced flash flooding, and the NWS said more rain will likely cause further flooding that could affect roads and structures.
The storms could also produce damaging wind gusts, mainly during the early afternoon to evening hours, the NWS said.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency urged residents to avoid already flooded areas, never drive around barricades and identify alternate routes in case roads become impassable. MEMA also warned that river flooding is expected.
MEMA repeated the safety slogan “Turn around, don’t drown” and urged motorists to heed road closures and weather warnings, the agency said.
