Tupelo man arrested on aggravated domestic violence charge
A Tupelo man was arrested May 17 and charged with aggravated domestic violence after officers investigated an alleged assault on May 8, the Tupelo Police Department said.
Officers responded May 8 to McCullough Boulevard in reference to a previous domestic assault, the department said. When they arrived, they contacted a victim who said a suspect they were currently in a relationship with had physically assaulted them.
After further investigation, police arrested Martin Jefferson, 24, of Tupelo, on May 17 and charged him with one count of aggravated domestic violence, the department said.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Jefferson held without bond on May 17, and the case will be presented to the Lee County grand jury, authorities said.
