Police arrested Donny T. Deaton, 30, of Tupelo on Aug. 14 after responding to a disturbance at a residence on Pemberton Avenue and finding a victim with visible injuries, police said.
The victim told officers they had been physically assaulted by Deaton, someone they had previously been dating, police said. Deaton was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Lee County Jail, police added.
After further investigation, authorities charged Deaton with one count of burglary of an occupied dwelling and one count of aggravated domestic violence, police said.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir ordered Deaton held on an $80,000 bond. The charges will be presented to the Lee County grand jury, police said.
