Giants’ Logan Webb deletes X account after online clash following 10-0 loss
All-Star pitcher Logan Webb deleted his X account after trading barbs with critics following the San Francisco Giants’ 10-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, Outkick reported Wednesday.
The exchange began when KNBR’s Jack Loder posted a video criticizing a “leadership void” on the Giants and questioned whether Webb had lived up to his billing as the team’s ace, Outkick reported. Loder wrote, “When someone is supposed to be your ace, you think that they’re going to give you the best chance to win every week.”
Webb responded on X, writing, “You know what’s sad is they allow people like you in the locker room,” according to Outkick. When KNBR host Adam Copeland replied, Webb shot back, “Who are you?” Outkick reported he also asked another user, “Do you get paid by KNBR?” and wrote, “Honestly you probably don’t know anything about anything some loser on the couch that couldn’t make his little league team.”
The social-media exchanges followed a rough night for Webb on the mound, Outkick reported. Webb surrendered five first-inning runs, including a grand slam to Kazuma Okamoto, and finished seven innings as the bullpen unraveled and Dylan Cease nearly no-hit the Giants in the 10-0 shutout at Oracle Park, the report said.
Webb is scheduled to appear in next week’s All-Star Game, Outkick noted. The report added that first-year manager Tony Vitello has faced scrutiny as the Giants struggle, and that Webb may have to answer questions about his social media activity as well as his season.
