Forecasters said parts of Mississippi are under a marginal risk for severe storms on May 8, 2026, with isolated severe storms, damaging winds and quarter-inch hail possible.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said it is responding to severe weather that hit the state May 6 and 7, 2026, after the National Weather Service confirmed seven tornadoes on May 6, including two EF3 twisters in Franklin and Lamar counties.
