Office tells House panel procurement reforms could save $150 million
An office told a House select committee on procurement that reforms could save Mississippi taxpayers as much as $150 million, the office said.
The office presented recommendations from its Project Momentum audit, which it said identified potential savings of up to $150 million across state government if the procurement process is reformed.
The office said simple changes could produce large savings. It recommended allowing agencies to share state contracts and improving procurement coordination between schools, saying those steps would save taxpayers millions.
The office said its full recommendations are available on its website and suggested searching for “Project Momentum” for more information.
