Tupelo man charged after police find machine gun conversion device
A 19-year-old Tupelo man was charged after officers found a firearm equipped with a machine gun conversion device during a traffic stop, the Tupelo Police Department said.
Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation June 20 in the area of Willie Moore Road and discovered a passenger in possession of a firearm fitted with a device commonly referred to as a Glock switch, the department said.
Police arrested the passenger and transported him to the Lee County Jail. After further investigation, the department said Jayden Richey, 19, of Tupelo, was charged June 22 with one count of possession of a machine gun conversion device.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Richey held without bond on June 22, and the department said the charge will be presented to the Lee County grand jury.
