Elevated flash flood threat for much of Mississippi Tuesday
An elevated (Level 2) flash flood threat is in place for much of Mississippi from noon through midnight Tuesday, July 14, 2026, forecasters warned. They said 3 to 5 inches of rain could fall in a short period, with locally higher totals possible.
Areas of flash flooding are likely, and some roads could become flooded or closed, officials said. Rapid runoff could make low-lying and flood-prone areas hazardous.
Officials urged residents to stay weather aware and to have multiple ways to receive warnings. Motorists were warned not to drive through flooded roads, with authorities reiterating the “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” safety message.
Forecasters advised people to monitor local forecasts and warnings for updates as conditions evolve.
