Forecasters say heavy rain will begin late Thursday night and continue into Friday, with stronger storms capable of producing localized flash flooding and severe microbursts.

Northeast Mississippi Community College said its MI-BEST program has eight openings for fall 2026 to help eligible students earn a high school equivalency while receiving career training. The college said participants may qualify for assistance with tuition, books and supplies.

The Tupelo Police Department said it is investigating multiple shootings believed to be related that involve a homicide near George Avenue and Bienville Street. Officers have a heavy presence and the public has been asked to avoid the area.
