Forecasters say heat and humidity will spike to a Level 3 of 4 risk Tuesday across most of the Mid-South and will persist through late week. They urged residents to prepare, check on neighbors and avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles.

The Burnside Music Festival kicks off today at noon in Downtown Ripley with live music, arts vendors, and food trucks.

Organizers said Burnside Fest will have free admission and free parking, and encouraged attendees to bring lawn chairs while asking that outside coolers remain at home.

Online bidding for a guitar signed by 2025 performers closes at 10 p.m., and a second instrument signed by 2026 performers will be auctioned live at the festival, organizers said.
