Dale Wayne Griggs was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges in Mississippi. Authorities praised law enforcement for their investigation.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation announced plans to widen I-55 in Madison County and State Route 25 in Rankin County, funded by House Bill 1938 passed in the 2026 legislative session.

A traffic advisory said the southbound exit ramp and the northbound entrance and exit ramps at U.S. 98 Summit (Exit 20) will be closed from 6 p.m. May 15 to 6 a.m. May 18 for resurfacing work.

State Auditor Shad White said his office will audit small state agencies, boards and commissions to identify wasteful spending and legal noncompliance. The effort follows a review of larger agencies called Project Momentum.
